Two buildings, one street, a long time in Enugu

Amazon Hotel sits on Njemanze Street, just off Ogui Road. It has been here a long time, and it shows in the good way: the trees have grown in, the staff know the regulars, and the street is quiet in a part of town that mostly isn't.

There are two buildings — the main hotel, and the Extension directly across the road. Between them there is almost always something free, which matters more than it sounds like it should when you arrive in Enugu at nine at night without a reservation.

It is not a resort and does not pretend to be. It is a comfortable, well-priced, well-kept city hotel with cold air conditioning, a kitchen that cooks properly, and enough parking that nobody has to leave a car on the street.
